I have 1st hand experience of a saw that I was asked to look at for a mate, it was very evident it had been run on neat petrol, the thing was locked up solid, when I looked at the fuel for an indication of mix [colour,  taint, red, green etc] there was none, raw fuel.

when I rang the guy and told him the bad news,"your saw is 2 stroke you gotta mix oil and fuel together at the correct ratio"

"I did",he says,

"well there's no oil in the fuel",,,

I put it in the other tank like I do on my motorbike!!

he thought it mixed itself like his yamaha

I said "that's for the feckin' chain, it says chain oil on the cap"!!!

they walk among us.

If you add Riberna to your water it tastes different from adding water to your Ribena. Do you think the same applies to two stroke oil?

Maybe it's like homoeopathy, the more diluted the stronger they claim?.

I find 2 stroke mix tastes horrible, but I've only ever put the petrol in first. Will try oil first and report back.

You do that.  And remember shaken not stirred.

I'm still recovering after getting sprayed in the face with a mist of unleaded yesterday - fixing weeping car fuel tank bung.  I think the tank was pressurized for some reason. Central heating oil is also another delicacy that hangs around the senses for a while.  Im probably going to get cancer.

Working for council, team leader gave us 5L of mixed petrol to use. I told him it was neat, no colour to it, no oilyness to it on my finger when touching it. Use it, I was told, and being not my problem, we did,  took a few days to get through it. I was only on a temp contract anyway. Br800 blower, bg86 blower, pair of stihl long reach hedge cutters, all survived with no known damage. I was quite suprised. Im certain it had no oil in the mix and the others agreed.

They used oil out of a drum, no idea what, other than its red. They would refill the oregon measuring bottles with it, thats the only oil they used, and very visibly red.
