Road tax refund

When I've ever had a refund for road tax it's been a cheque in the post, anyhow, I sold a van last month, today I've had a refund paid into my bank from DVLA. According to the Gov website cheque is still how refunds are made. Anyone else had this?

I was late paying my tax so I had to call them.

I actually asked the bloke if I could just not pay it because they weren’t keeping up their side of the contract i.e. spending any money fixing the disgraceful roads round here.

I likened it to walking into a pub and giving them £6 for a pint of Stella, but not getting any Stella.

 

He actually agreed with me, but I still had to pay.

I guess that's why they call it VED, no one claim it was road tax...

It's not been road tax for many years, the funds go into the general tax pot and used as and where they want to spend it.

Now we've established its not called road tax has anyone else had a refund into their bank recently?

I think we did last year, Mrs Ps account so she might have had a cheque, think it was a direct payment

Can you not shout over to the West Wing and ask Mrs P....

I had a cheque last week, usually pay 12 months on card. Were you paying by direct debit, maybe then they have bank details so can pay back to there.

Not going there again!! It was her car we replaced, (mine went earlier in the year as a natural death, we only need 1 now), so she paid the insurance and taxes on that, paid online, then I paid for the new one, plus the insurance and taxes, but somehow I never saw what she got back. Odd that.

 

So I think it came back as a direct payment to her.
