Sad times indeed. It's a shit throwaway society we live in. There is some hope maybe, with things like the Right to Repair movement gaining momentum.

 

A decent local cobbler is worth their weight in gold. I've had a few pairs of shoes saved from the bin on a few occasions, and the guy has only charged a pittance really. Hiking boots are probably a bit too specialised I guess, unfortunately.

Import some children and have them resole your boots for cheaper.

I was jesting, it makes no sense to have a new sole put on, and the other bits, gluing, stitching done, by time they are done I'll be a oner+ light, I can have a box fresh pair for £160.
