Small and very stable bollard with a payload of 500 kg. The abseiling brake is suitable for ropes up to...

Worth the extra hundred over a portawrap, I get help by people who are more casual labour quite a bit and this is super easy to use and control. Nice and stable, and not a big bit of kit in the van.

My opinion anyway.

Ease of use is certainly a factor, is it really that much more difficult to explain a portawrap to the average Joe?

I've never used one, I just like the idea of them really, and I'd like to be able to bring it up the tree with me. Have somewhere to hang my jacket when it gets too hot.

Probably end up getting both at some stage, anyway.

Fig 8 will definitely get you out of a spot and a capstan is better than trunk wraps, but a small fixed bollard is much more capable and easy to use.

Only a couple of hundred quid.

What do you mean by a Fig 8?
In this context I mean, I know what a fig 8 is.
