On the bottom right?  Yeah you get some funky shapes with extra arms and things, they are called fun names like the Frog or the Piranha, depending on the shape and the manufacturer. You can add a wrap here or there to add more friction.

Peds have a look at the ftc bollards. They’re a bit more pricey than the competition but well worth it imo. Being alloy they’re light and dissipate heat really well. I’ve got the micro one and have done some pretty meaty removals with it, but it’s just as good for lighter rigging on reductions etc. Comes in a handy box which pretty much lives in the truck, and can fit a sling and xs impact block in there too.

Actually for light and easy to carry I have a Shizll spider sling in my climbing kit, rigging ring at the top is worth between half and one turn on a bollard.

Also have a 10mm rope, rigging wrench and whoopie sling in a bag. Light and quick to set up.

As I live in the land of small trees no need for bollard most of the time.

ive got the micro cylinder. it is certainly lighter than the stein bollard, but is it just me or do the smaller diameter bollards cause a lot more twist in the rope? I also cant seam to 'let them run' as well as with a bigger diameter bollard.

I also couldn't get on with the shizll. it looked super easy to adjust and slide down a stem for blocking down but in practice I found it a pain in the arse.

Yeah the smaller gear will absolutely kink your ropes more, those fig8s are terrible for it; it's why no-one ever uses them any more except cavers and canyoners, and they're all a pretty weird bunch.

A kinky rope is easy to fix though, you just run through a grassy meadow at dawn with it trailing out behind you.

As a caver I’d just like to set the record straight, we don’t use fig 8’s.
