Large wooden bung

Just wondering if anyone can or knows someone who could knock a softwood bung up as per pic

Presumably, looking at this from the top and/or bottom of your picture, the bung would be round? If so you need someone with a fairly large lathe.  Mine is not big enough.

Yeah that’s a side profile view 

basically it needs to go in a hull opening as a secondary back up behind a blank, guys internally are changing out some valves, opening is below water. I guess it would be easy to compare it to a large bath plug, the pics are the posh very expensive way to do it. 🤔

Would an inflated bladder be better ?.

 

As something that large might be liable to split when you're giving it some with a lump hammer.

 

Can't remember where I saw it but, it's like an expandable bellows with a big arse bolt. Maybe attach it to a plate, so you've got plate/mastic/bellow and internal bolted blank ?.

Client has asked specifically for a softwood bung 🤷‍♂️

It’s only a back up option. If it’s too difficult to source it will probably be a different option, timber bungs that size or smaller are a PIA subsea as they always want to float away.

Just flip it the other way up, then it will float downwards 👍
