you make no claim to understand it, how can you know the taxpayer funded nothing more than keeping the status quo?

I make no claim to understand the intricacies the global market and all that goes with it. Has anything changed ??  Nat west is still here RBS is still here Fred is enjoying his monster pension, Joe average taxpayer is still picking up the tab which to me looks very much like the status quo has been retained.
By all means play you financial game but don’t expect a bale out when you mess it up. Derivatives and Securities etc etc pure and utter BS facilitated and driven by  greed.

That's where you're mistaken.

It is exactly a case of making them fluffy and non-threatening.

Exactly this.

Johnson (The Boris) was a bit needy, wanted to appear all cuddly so he 'forced' the media into 'Boris'. Before that politicians were referred to (correctly) by their surnames. Boris, your pal, first name terms. Good old Nige. Then when they are baddies you get the surnames again, Starmer, Reeves, Biden, Shipman (read through the posts in the various political threads if you want to see the examples).

Mostly the right (errr, wrong) side of politics refer to their politicians by their cuddly, friendly names and refer to the rest with their surnames.

They are all, however politicians, nothing in their make up is cuddly and nice, they are all the same breed, same self serving backstabbing self obsessed individuals (very few exceptions). Only difference is some try at least to do good by society, where as the rest have stopped their pretence and are only out to feather their own nests at all costs (here Trump and Farage are prime examples of that).

Cuddle non threatening name to hide their true colours.

I'm not arguing about Fred the shred and all the other over paid jockeys - all I'm saying is you don't know enough to know whether or not there would have been a real global downturn similar to the 1930s if the governments on both sides of the pond had just let the over extended banks all fail.

Absolute BS, totally forgetting Tony, Gordon, Maggie.

Selective memory or do you get reprimanded for daring to call Sturgeon, Nicola!.

I quoted actual figures from 2025 you are quoting what might have happened based upon what happened in the 1930s . But due to taxpayers money being used to bale out pure incompetence and greed the status quo was retained.

And we the non civil servants types refer to them interchangeably as Tony/Blair, Gordon/Broon and Maggie/Thatcher.

Which makes your long post about making them cute, cuddly and non threatening absolutely meaningless and a lie.

For as long as there has been public figures people have used shortened names for ease of recognition.

Hell even an old one is Teddy ie Roosevelt!
