Water on top of Stove

Recommended Posts

We've had a wood burner installed in our living room with a twin wall flue system. After some time we noticed that water would drip onto the top of the stove from somewhere on the flue. Unfortunately the company that installed it has now disappeared and HETAS have inspected it and said that functionally the stove is safe to use and they can't see anything wrong with the installation. We've also had another installer out who suggested painting around the seams of the new felt that was added around the hole in the ceiling for the flue which now also doesn't seem to have resolved the problem. Any other ideas as to what we can try to resolve the water leaking on to the stove?

Don't know if you have a storm collar fitted and sealed?

When fitting twin wall flue through roof I always fit a "storm collar" over the top of the flashing to shed the water away from the seal around the flashing and the flue. This collar needs to be sealed itself with heat resistant silicon - bit belt and braces but touch wood no leaks yet! the collar can be seen in this photo near the base of the flue. Hope that helps
