Vanguard Efi oil pressure sensor

This popular yet problematic engine is fitted to many GM, Forst, TW chippers.

Yet just what function does the oil pressure sensor have and how does it alert the user to low oil pressure?

Is it even wired up to give a warning or stop the engine in the case of a low oil reading?

The sensor usually shuts the engine down if it gets a low reading. A gauge would be handy to keep an eye on things but if the oil pressure all of a sudden drops then the engine needs to be shut down ASAP.

Pretty sure that's what my small Honda engines do, it's more an ignition kill switch than a sensor.

Yes the Honda engine oil switches just divert the spark to earth when they trip.

Where's @Jase hutch ?.

 

I'm sure he's got a better understanding of these newer engines with ECU so assume it's more than an analogue oil or no oil like the older Honda's.
