I was a bit confused by the punctuation (or lack thereof).

In the end I settled on:

”No ifs or buts. Cliff, put his name and address up.”

There are a few other members of the grammar police on here.
im pleased you managed to work it out in the end 👍

Now now, don’t be like that.

You asked how it could have been confusing.

I just thought you may appreciate someone actually giving an actual answer to one of your questions.  Sorry.

Some members are so sensitive nowadays. As long as it’s the truth I’ll take it.

……and anyway, it was punctuation I commented on, not grammar.

Well, as you accused me of being the ‘grammar police’ for making one single isolated comment, I thought I had offended your sensibilities.

Pretty much everything I post on this forum is flippant.

It’s got me into a fair bit of grief in the past, I can assure you!

I gotta Grade 2 CSE in English, I’ll have you know…. I’m not going to waste that level of knowledge if I can help it.

You’re gonna have to give him more to go on than that. He’s no the brightest spark and with such a scant retort bereft of depth he’ll still be none the wiser.

Thats no way to speak about yourselves.

In response to OP, you cant realistically walk away and ask for a payment and then get upset when they dont pay. He may have been a PITA but if you had it all down in writing then you need to go through it with them when they start nit picking and try to resolve it there and then. Its either see the job out and chalk it up or walk away and chalk it up.
