Clean the spark plug and put a little petrol down the bore never fails for me if there is a spark there. She may run a  few seconds but it will pull the petrol through if all the running gear is good.

Alkylate fuel yes, but we always ran these things at 25-1, and still use 25-1 on the K1260 and K1270.

thats basically what a little fuel in the bore or in the carb does, i like to use a 5ml calpol type syringe and just pop it into the carb before putting air filter back on, runs a little longer than putting direct into cylinder

great idea.  I was in hospital recently (all fine) and you should have seen the kit that I rescued from being thrown into the bin. I got a variety of syringes up to 600m that I thought might be useful for emptying fuel tanks plus some long reach forceps that will be great for fishing out fuel filters !

Yeah perfect, I like to use syringes for measuring out oil to mix aswell.

the 5ml syringes seem the perfect amount to get a saw to fire off and run without flooding.

syrings also quite handy for priming a bar - use it to run oil down the groove and into the nose sprocket

Thanks for the info. Imagine we have calpol syringe somewhere for the kids. 
otherwise a teaspoons worth will do by the sound of it. 
Presumably you start with the throttle open?
