Black Bark - What do I do?

I want to start by saying I know nothing about trees, but I think the two in my front yard are not healthy. They have black bark almost all the way around and it is brittle and falling off. The trees still produce a lot of leaves, but I want to make sure they are healthy. Any thoughts? I think these are oak, but unsure.

heic is  a apple format?

ive converted them to jpg. 

 

Yes heic is apple, although im really not sure why sometimes they show as heic and others jpg. I always upload from my iphone and occassionally the web decides to display in heic format.

Any pics of them in leaf? Look like poplars.....🤔
