Anyone know about a stihl 3800?

I had one of these saws as part of a job lot. The chain brake would never stop the saw dead, the sparkplug was beginning to melt the top cover, the recoil broke as it would never start on 3 pulls, the oiler was as reliable as the UK train service......oh, it never ran well and when it did, it wasn't to hot.

Apart from that, it was a decent saw and worth around £30.

Why does the Zomax have an extra filler cap by the back handle?

I must say, my Lidl Parkside 55cc saw has been reliable and capable. Don't know if it's a zomax though..

The 'third' cap in an A/V mount ......although it is wildly optimistic fitting av mounts to one of those as they have to be running for a reasonable time to counteract the effects of white finger....which it wont. 😂

It's just a cover, there's a bolt holding chassis in there.

I certainly wouldn't want one but the one I rescued originally, which I bought a chain for, and cut s few loads of logs before giving it away, was usable and light and to my mind better than a stihl 171 I tried yesterday.

😆 ....sharp intake of breath.... did you just 'dis' a Stihl ?  😨

😁Yes I suppose so but then I have never tried a home owner Husky and if it weren't for the surplus 262s I would  have about an equal number of Husky and Stihl work tools.

In the day I preferred the bigger stihl saws and bruscutters and the 60cc and under huskies for forestry work and domestics. Back then the huskies had a bad reputation for hot starting on a hot day.

You may have heard of Pandora,s Box, if you undo that third cap, you may find "Hope" in there but unfortunately, in this saws case it will probably be "No Hope".
