I think you will find that they park on either these:

or these:

No need to worry about road markings or signs. As long as you stick your hazards on and keep you engine running, you can park wherever you like.

New vehicle ordered after July 1st 2024. Will become applicable to all from 2028 so you've got 4 years on existing truck.

Bit of a guess what happens to pickup values in 2028, maybe a lot of business pickups get sold.

HMRC using a sledgehammer to crack a nut as usual. A good selling often very cost effective tool that benefits many  users ( many of whom

are hard working self employed types) in a multitude of ways. 🤷‍♂️utter greed nothing more.

Your right it couldn’t as to achieve what you describe would require a modicum of reliability.

My 1998 range rover TDI is far more reliable than any of the import double cabs and just keeps going on and on and on ....

It has out lasted Navara, rodeo, dmax, ranger and Hilux by far which all have had complex problems.

It's simple , strong and above all ultimately cheap to run. Alongside the 4000kg towing capacity it's great off road.

It just can't be beaten for work by anything double cab at all, I've tried.

4000KG towing capacity 🤔

Im genuinely pleased for you, make sure you hang onto it as you’ve got a very rare and special vehicle “ a reliable old Range Rover ” cheap to run and simple 👍

Yeah.

I got offered a large amount of money for it recently but I can't buy anything new to replace it.

It's just ideal for work.

Pretty tidy and it's all defender running gear so parts such as wheel bearings are still available.

Just rebuilt the engine last year at 200k miles and it's running sweet.

They built them as a special edition when the land rover was at war with the Hilux over capacity.

It was a British eff u to them.

If you can find one they did the same with the last MK1 discovery and also gave them a 4000kg tow capacity. Commercial vehicles nailed together in Solihull from girders...😂

I recall from years back, a supplier/manufacturer needed strong towtugs so gave the reps a load of Discovery  type cars but charged them the BIK on a standard diesel hatchback. Still a chunk of money compared to van tax and think that HMRC was agin that too!

I'm doing the navel gazing at trucks ATM as I'm due a new GreenMech towtug - we will fall in to the category of P11D survivors until 2028 then we will have to reassess.

As an option on my wishlist, I suggested the two seat Commercial Ineos Grenadier, expensive but it has a 5 year, unlimited mileage warranty. Just been informed that it isn't Taco ready and Ineos say that if we find a workaround, it will void the warranty! So that is straight off the list!

Double cab pickups useless? I don't think so. My ranger can carry just under a cubic metre of firewood in the tub plus chainsaws, fuel can, helmets etc on the back (covered) seats with tow ropes, gloves etc behind the back seats and two up front. Have skidded trees out of the wood etc. When on hay shifting duties can get min 8 bales on without getting silly, picking bales up off field tailgate down and just sling them in. Tows my 12 ft livestock trailer fully loaded no problem.

Leather interior, heated seats (great for that aching back!) air con etc.

Horses for Courses.
