My saw always has air in the purge bulb but it runs perfectly, I don't think that has any bearing on the problem.

I was wrong, main jet pushed out and it has a functioning check valve.

 

I'll reassemble the carb and try again but this time I'll clamp the tube to the purge bulb.

When you push it back in, ensure that the recess in that check valve picks up the fuel inlet on the hole it fits in to....I know it looked too deep. 

At least that element is OK.....probably easier to purchase a new saw

As I said at the beginning it's a challenge which I just have a go at when I have some spare time between all the other retirement projects I have started and may not finish.

 

When I took the saw repair on I expected it to be just a matter of adjusting the Hi and Lo screws.

 

As to buying another saw, I have plenty which I will never wear out.

Might be the picture, dunno, but that metering arm looks a tad low ? Quite a jaunty angle too, I'd be tempted to tweek it up a bit and then bend the contact face so its parallel to adjacent carb recess, maybe Im a bit OCD ??? 🙄

I did as you suggested, put it together and with the tube to the purge bulb blocked it would run on choke and as soon as the throttle was opened it ran for a couple of seconds and died. It seemed as if the vacuum when the choke was on filled the diaphragm chamber but once the saw was running on throttle the chamber empted and the impulse wasn't able to refill it.

 

Bearing in mind it ran fine with the carb from a working Einhell.

That was without any fiddling with the tuning screws. Apart from the faffing about it was probably worth the £6.08

Glad you got it sorted, I think the £6.08 was worth it and gets us all on to the next issue thrown at us from the great big world out there.
