I guess it depends on what you want? You mentioned anarchy earlier, catalonia was anarchist at one point but the Spanish didn't like it and stamped it out. Some areas of Ukraine are too I believe, but now might not be the best time to explore it! There are also some small communities round Europe who practise it. In Denmark and Germany I think.

I know the ones you're talking about. Christiania, Užupis, the Berlin one I've forgotten the name of, Sealand arguably, Liberland obviously, the other one that's like that whose name I also forget. There have been loads of attempts at micronation genesis. Their problem in my opinion is they try to fit in to the paradigm of statehood. Individual liberty is a ground up, not top down thing. It works anywhere. You don't need a flag etc. The other problem is that these places might as well be Waco, Texas for all the even-handed publicity they get.

 

This is all getting needlessly ideological. Someone tell me how more government and not less is going to improve the shit state of the housing market.

It seemed to be mainly about weed and graffiti when I visited once quite a while ago. It's been there for years so can't be a complete failure, though I suspect most of the income is from tourism these days.

I lived there for about 9 years. It's definitely big government and its great. Obviously not perfect but that's  life I'm afraid 😅
