Basically, is it a mini GRCS on your harness or just some bullshit?

 

Their promotional material doesn't fill me with confidence of its real world application. If someone set up their rigging like that on the job, I'd probably pull them out of the tree...

Calm down, dear. It's only a pulley that rotates one way for slick lifting but doesn't rotate the other way so you have a bit of friction while lowering. ISC puts them on one of their rig n wrenches.

Petzl have made something very similar, with a promo video explaining principles and one application. Really useful for light rigging as you don't need a friction device at the base of the tree, and it will reduce forces on your rigging anchor e.g. could be used in "fishing rod" rigging configuration to dissipate anchor forces.

Anything that adds that lovely clicking noise to your operation is a worthwhile investment in my opinion. 

We've just upgraded to a pair of Harken Clutch for our belay/haul masterpoint (mountain rescue team), the steady clickety ratcheting as you haul in is like music.

Directional pulleys have their place. Definitely not worth getting upset over.
