Is my climbing rope ok to use

Hi all today i put my chainsaw through the tail end of my climbing rope.

 

Does this affect the other 30+metersto climb on?

Is it still ok to climb on or do i needa new 1

Wrap some tape around the cut end back from the damage and heat the end with a lighter to seal it . I am not a climber so others will shoot me down if this is wrong but I have done this with ropes in the past . . Its your life so don't take my advice without other opinions .

Make a nice clean cut after wrapping it. If you can heatshrink the end it lasts better.

 

You'll also need a new stopper knot in the top bit, otherwise you won't stop till you've gone past the gap.

Run the rope through your hands from the good end to bad, trying to stretch out the inner core and the outer cover. Tape up half meter back from cut, then cut with a hot knife or scissors, and use a small blowtorch to seal.

As above but I’d also remark the length on the rope if pre-marked and on your PUWER/LOLER sheets and part of working history add that it was shortened. I see so many ropes that will not pass inspections due to incorrect lengths marked when there is a few meters missing 👍
