Ash growing around power lines

Hi all, I have a large ash on my property growing between power lines, so beyond my capability’s to deal with. I’m looking for advice on the best thing to do with it?

Call your DNO, it's their responsibility to ensure a minimum clearance which I think is now 3m.

 

Looking at it you might be getting a lot more light as loads of those trees are far to close for comfort.

That looks like insulated cable, which I think is 300mm statuary clearance as it’s “insulated”, chances are they would just prune around the wires? Best thing to do is try and call the DNO and tell them you’re worried about the tree and can they remove it (Scottish Power are doing a lot of this atm)

They are insulated but that pole will have non-insulated crimps. Best leave it to power company.

The tree is overhanging the first LV span (which is also open wire) coming from the 11Kv transformer - depending on the DNO it’ll probably need to be worked on under an HV shutdown. 
Call the electricity company and they should sort it for you FOC.

If its the same as previous the minimum statutory safety clearance for a tree that can support a ladder or climber must remain 3 metres away from any un insulated cable.

 

if it does not support a ladder or climber the minimum statutory safety clearance is 0.8 metres for the contract period - this is from the Energy Networks Association Technical standard 43-8
