Not wanting to hijack your thread or anything but how do you and others rate the vito? Looking at buying one myself.

A guy I know has an ex Merc demo one - was something like 180 hp to start with and then chipped up to 250 - it goes rather well for a diesel.

for the parts i think it would be very complicated as it it would involve new gearbox then makeing a path for the prop to the rear and then installing a rear axle out off something rear wheel drive youd probally want an lsd diff in it aswell

 

and imo the sprinter is nowhere near as good as the vw transporter the vw is much better quality bigger and more comfortable and has the option of 4x4 from new

also i don't think the merc is available as a chassis cab if you want it for arb work

 

finally for anyone whos interested the new AWD transit tipper is available this year

they already make a 4x4 sprinter.....and the sprinter is a far better built machine than the vito..

I have acquired a vito from a payment due, surprised at how well the 112cdi drives so might keep it.

there was a 4x4 sprinter for sale on ebay i think which was an ex-electricity board one with a gas ring and hand wash and extra seating in the back.

The vito is a much nicer vehicle, just not as well built as the sprinter. I wouldnt turn my nose up at a vito any day.

my old man had a new 4x4 sprinter about 10year ago, good van

 

dave, in short i would say no to under 2k to convert to 4x4, if atall possible
