My brother has a 16 plate Ranger. He lives on a costal town in the N.E of Scotland. Zero rust from what he can see. When he called a Ford appointed specialist regarding the Chassis issue he’s been told his Truck was not built at a plant affected by the rust issue.

Interesting, I wonder which Ford plant supplied the problem rusty chassis's..

Back in the day with the mk6 and mk7 Transits, The Southampton built vans defiantly rusted a lot more than the Turkish factory ones.

The Ranger rust/paint issue must have hit hard financially but I guess in the scale of things not enough to hurt too much. I was on my 2nd wildtrack and probably would have gone for another but the hassle and final round of battles with Ford  customer service has done it for me. I’ll run the current 68 plate model to death and see what’s around then.

Will it tow 3.5t 🤔

Well I had one ride in a Tesla, really really quick when he put his foot down - but that makes the battery flat so he actually drove 99% of the time at a careful 67mph.

So probably will tow 3.5t but not very far, especially if there are hills.

I don't know the answer, I had my Defender professionally waxoyled and it's only done 75k so hopefully that's got as many years in it as I have doing tree work.
