I do have a question about the diesel option, I hear they're down plated output wise but are they as filled with sensors as the petrol equivalent?.

The 25hp or so Kubota diesels are mechanical injection. Just a stop solenoid, alternator and starter motor.

Fuel injection has been about since the 70's on production cars. in the grand scheme of things, a 2 cylinder fuel injection engine is about as basic as EFI can be. A good car technician would probably laugh at it's simplicity.

So, given your experience with these engines and observations of the trials and tribulations of Shaun and I.

What do YOU think might be the cause of the starting issues?

In my case, software updates didn't work and any number of diagnostic tests where inconclusive.

I really would love to know.

Let it go. It can’t hurt you any more.

And this business of software updates.

Well that ties you to regular visits to a dealer.

Many chipper owners, me included like to do their own servicing.

I also understand that there are very few Efi certified dealers generally and when I had my issues only 13 in the whole of France.

Machines of all kinds equipped with Efi engines being sold by dealers not certified, trained and equipped to service them.

Yeah I wouldn't countenance paying for that once out of warranty.

Apart from the weight issue why not put something like a LPG engine in,  liquid cooled but long lived in forklift trucks and the toyota 4y puts out 44hp

Near enough every firm I climb for, they're busy out killing trees and not paying enough attention to mechanical matters. I always recommend they get an old bloke to scuff round the yard 11-2 every day, sharpening, fixing, running errands, drop us a bar and chain in etc. You are utterly that bloke.
