Just looked at this thread, Andy i dont want to put any ones back up but why wasnt the job priced to remove the timber? Or was it and your mate didnt want to pay?:confused1: It just puts my back up a little when climbers take jobs from others when they cant really carry out the job by themselves. All this does is give some guys a sore back and leave them out of pocket. Maybe i am reading it all wrong but i just had to ask mate:biggrin:

To me this thread shows the pit fall of having fire wood warriors to take your wood.

IMO its better to price the job to cover the cost of removing the timber and if the fire wood boys turn up, you can either have a nice bonus or give the customer a bit of discount (best advert there is in my book)

There is no way on earth I would have been ringing that up on site, I find it hard to believe that it would have cost more to get a hiab wagon in than all the labour of cutting, humping, hauling in little trucks and then clearing the saw dust.

You must have had a change of heart mate. :confused1:

Last back end you were the one advocating doing tree work for nothing in return for keeping the firewood! :001_tongue:

Not at all mate, you ain't putting anyones back up........

The long and short of it, is that he had a bloke lined up to take it, but the bloke let him down on Monday morning. Day 1 of the job!!...... Which, when you're back's up against the wall trying to make sure the job was done in the school half-term time frame we had, kinda put the kybosh on the job.

I mean, it's not like he coulda turned round and added another couple of days to the job or the price........ the quote said to take it away, so we had to get rid! Pure and simple.

Like i said in the opening post, my mate doesn't bother with firewood or anything, so had no interest in the timber at all....... hence me posting to see if anyone else could make use of it.

I think Huck got it about right...... about not relying on "Firewood warriors". That's the mistake my mate made, but i doubt it's be one he'll be making again.
