I have seen a couple of these advertised.

I am shite at learning other languages(and having no ear for music may play a part) so this concept appeals to me(did Star Trek have such a gizmo btw?)

P.S.

How on earth do they deal with dialects?

Artificial intelligence at work?

Thoughts please.

An Iphone does this.  Get the google translate app. You can hold it up to written text (like a menu) and it translates the text on screen or speak into it and it will talk back in the different language. Ive not used this last feature myself (would feel a bit stupid) but you see people booking hire cars like this the whole time.
