right ,my wife is a driving instructor has been for 18yrs, we have a an 05 pug 206 done 110,000 miles cam belt not due till 160,000 miles yet the main dealer suggests it needs doing now ?? 50,000m short of service time,had it been due @ 120,000m it wouldnt bother us as its not far off been due ,but 50,000. away, & the car is serviced on time every time @ the pug dealer :confused1: any thoughts chaps :001_smile:

Not sure why a main dealer would go 'against' the reccomened service intervals........so make sure your own info is correct.

 

I'm assuming it has been done before ......as 160,000 miles seams rather a lot before doing a belt.

Get it done.

 

A snapped cam belt is way more costly than a service interval one.

 

Tbh Its best to change em at 36,000 no matter what the manufacture says as they do tend to move the goal posts when a few have snapped under warrenty.

I would say that if it hasnt had a belt change already you should definately consider having it done. I now change the belt on my vehicles every 50,000 miles as i have had one go before and it is very costly.

The interval is very high on those vehicles, I personally wouldn't leave it that long.

 

Also vauxhall do actually have somehthing in their service intervals about delivery drivers, driving instructors, ie round town having shorter service intervals for oil, possibly for cambelt to.

 

It's not a lot of money in the big scheme of things, and you'll probably only do it once on that car..........
