Hi guys and thanks again to all of you.

at their closest the distance between the flue and gutter overhang is 10’4”

here is a better angle photo showing flue is 2’

so on the minimum of requirements

cheers

You also say you have a direct air duct to the fire? Where does that lead to outside? Seems to me if it's the downwind side of the building then that could be at lower pressure when the wind blows, then it's not helping.

In the end you need to get the flue to suck more anyway , so not disagreeing about flue height/ cowl issue.

If the pressure at the air vent was a problem a lower pressure there than the roof would see smoke going out the vent and not into the room? (assuming the room is well sealed as noted above)

It’s not even that but it is 2’ higher than the roof it’s installed in and 10’ away from main house (with window it). To clear the main house roof stack would need to be over 20’ high!

and another one from me for now, what is the overall height of the chimney just now?

I don't think you need 20' of chimney but an extra couple could be good

I’d say from top of stove, and it’s a tall stove, just under 4m

Had a stove company round yesterday  coincidentally taking a look as I’d like a stove in the extension. The stove will be over 2.3m from the old external wall, and the surveyor said the flue would need to be a minimum of 4.5m from the top of the stove. He then suggested it may need to be higher to improve the draw on the fire but the 4.5m is the minim reg requirement.
