A lot are the same or very similar.......neither Stihl or Husqvarna have their own refineries, so it is made for them to their specification as there are slight differences. It have been reported that Stihl's motomix specification is the highest requested and has the highest octane rating. I understand a similar producer of the stuff called Truefuel do/did make Stihl's motomix to their specs

Strangely 🙂 I have heard that the Husqvarna stuff is the best ( would you believe it ? )  The highest octane rating is not necessarily the best bet for relatively low compression 2 stroke engines .

Thinking I’ll pick up some of the husqvarna fuel

also just seen another dealer just up the road has Motomix 2 for £20.99 which is quite different to £27.50… so guess where I’ll be going In future 🤔 no wonder the showroom was like a total ghost town and no reply to the online enquiry I sent them last weekend. 🙈

If you decide to buy the 'neat' 4-stroke Stihl motoplus4 or Aspen 4, then at least you have options to dispense it for use in both 2 or 4 stroke machinery- however use a decent 2-stroke synthetic oil with your mix, such as the Green Stihl HP (not the ultra) oil, as this is the oil Stihl automatically add to their pre-mix 2-stroke fuel, as it has a stabiliser added, whereas the cheap Red version or the more expensive Ultra version doesn't

Isn't the Stihl green semisynthetic?

If using an alkylate fuel, would a fuel stabiliser not be pointless? There are no aromatics to gum up, or ethanol to separate.

@Stubby Do you know (by chance) if that Redline 2t stuff is similar to Castrol R40?

Does it smell good?

No, it is not.. That redline stuff is apparently a modern synthetic oil, and Castrol R is a castor oil based type [which i would not be using in your saw]

john..

That’s a shame, I saw this having been told to find some scented candles.  Thought It could also be the perfect present idea.

Castrol R does smell the business, but it it only slightly soluble in petrol and will separate out.. Not a good thing!!!
