Best 30" hedge cutters?

Sorry for this being in the chainsaw section but couldn't see any other fitting area.

 

Seeing as the HS82R are literally impossible to source new now a days in 30inch blade, I just wondered what other go to hedgecutters people use?

 

I usually rotate with new cutters every year but the last 2 years I haven't managed due to this. Are the Makita or Husqvarna at all comparible?

 

Anyone had any experience?

Echo is a fine choice for hedge cutters

I've only experience echo bent shaft strimmers and felt they were ery poorly put together with cheap parts. Are the hedge cutters better quality then I assume?

 

I usually always stick to stihl but since brevity and covid, it's been made very hard

Makita bought out Fuji Robin so they have pedigree, I'm happy with mine which I would say are mid range.

Not used the new model but it’s completely different to the original Robin.

 

incidentally I still have a Robin. Been in the shop a few times over the years but it’s still the best hedge cutter out there IMO

Is that the single cut model sold by Barrus?

 

I preferred this for lightness and still have the handle, cutters and gearbox  in the hope of finding an engine. It's real old school with a throttle lever that you had to learn to operate with finger or thumb. Much better cut than my current makita.

I had the same dilemma earlier in the year as I wanted the 30'' cut.

Ended up going with the  Husqvarna 522HDR75X. Was very close to taking it back as the throttle response was slow to build it up to full revs. Thought there must be something wrong with it. But persevered and it probably took at least 10 full tanks for it to bed in and run normal but now it's fine. You notice it doesn't have the same power as the Stihl so isn't as good on the bigger stuff but it's okay. Seems slightly better balanced though.

Would try an echo next time if Stihl still aren't making the 30'' blades.

Not sure what that is about but the machine looks quite similar, I wonder if that engine unit would bolt on my gearbox.
