No one is suggesting just going in and helping yourself though. 
 

As there is a lot of wind blown up our way prices are relatively low. I had 30t of Beech delivered for the cost of transportation as they just needed rid and their own yard was already full. 
 

It’s why I’m getting almost sawlog quality beech for £45 a ton.

Aye, it's uneconomic for them and would be outright theft if i (or anyone) tried to help themselves; not to mention dangerous 😱  Plus it's a long walk back to town from the woods, carrying one log at a time 😂

some are left for the beasties to nest in and eat too if they look easy to get there could be other reasons they are left

I've seen people selling the magical "cubic tonne" which is neither a tonne nor a cubic metre!

"tonne bags" can come in any size you want from 0.5m3 to 2m3

 

 

Someone who sells firewood part time had me in to split some big logs for them, it was probably half softwood half hardwood.

I saw the same logs advertised on gumtree/facebook etc a few weeks later as pickup loads of hardwood......

Perhaps he separated the logs? Doubt it though. 

 

The reality is the mix will be an improved burn for the householder but they wont see it that way and would just prefer hardwood.

Well the point of tags is to draw attention to/help folk searching for a topic. Since i was trying to let folk know about the wood/price, it kinda seems relevant?

 

Nah, nothing fishy going on here at all. But thank you for your faith in my entrepreneurship. Just got a good deal locally and passing on the info like a good neighbour 👍
