Mantles seem to be doing rather well just now.

 

Just got another order for a 6”x4”x1200mm plus two uprights in 100mmx100mmx850mm. Planed, sanded and oiled for £400. Will take me 3-4 hours max. Will obviously need to pop out and re-oil a further couple of times.

 

For mantles and beams you simply can’t beat the Makita Beam Saw.

In 2nd pic it looks twisted, had to remove son-in-laws mantle as it warped too far and looked hellish. Maybe an optical illusion in pic!

I assume the one I removed (bought online I think) wasn’t dried properly before being milled and sold.🤷‍♂️

 

** Not sure why it quoted big beeches post, it was triggers post with three pics I quoted🤷‍♂️

Must be an optical illusion, or you’re drinking early this week. ;).
