400 is a cracking saw. As an all rounder, be hard to beat. Light, flick-able and plenty of power. My only gripe is the small fuel tank. As a ground saw in arb you may not notice it so much. Came with a 20", but I run an 18" as I find it nicer for snedding. You will soon forget about the £200 extra.

The MS462 is only a couple of hundred grams lighter, and will happily run a 28", I often run a 36". It was choking itself in softwood with the 36" the other day, I do have a Bark Box fitted too.

If you were looking for a 'do it almost all' bigger arb saw, it might be worth spending the extra. I really like mine. It's very well balanced indeed with a 20" light bar.

The hotty grips?  Or do you like damp gloves 😉 K

Yeh the heated handle is probably the only thing keeping the husky in the running at the moment leaning more towards the 400 and damp gloves 🤣

If i have to had only one saw on the ground , ms 462 have no competition ,and i dont have it .Ihave ms 400, its nice ,but i see no advantage to my 261with 0.325  1.3 chain .Ms 500 i nice one but all people saying very hungry for fuel ,and very little advantage to ms 462 ,few pounds difference in price i believe is errelivant .

Honestly I had ruled out the 462 thinking it would be too heavy for an everyday saw , using it to sned out with ?

I'd stick with the 400 for that sort of work.
I like the 462 it's a good saw but the triggers feel terrible like they are going to fall apart any second and despite it being only a bit more in weight it feels numb, it does make a good Arb saw for ringing up timber in a garden but it's no mean light speed snedding saw although others may disagree

200 gram difference between ms 400 and ms 462, I believe its not that much, actual size is the same, as I said I like ms 462 more.
