That clip will break way before a saw strop will. I've had my weight hanging off one of those saw strops (don't ask) and the fuel tank of the 461 it was attached to broke before the strap did.

My only incident was a 272 that I was using to step cut a big horizontal oak limb.

Anyway, saw got stuck and went with the branch, eventually (well, a split second later) the saw freed itself and the limb went. Bar was bent beyond repair, very sore hip but otherwise ok.
