Malborough high street is like a section of dual carriage way with parking in the middle and down both hard shoulders, this church and graveyard is at one end. I've seen old photo's of rows of military lorries parked down the centre during the war so I wonder if the tree had damage caused by an enemy attack ? 🤔

Maybe it was the target for trenching shovel throwing.

I’ve seen Scots pine do this before.
Me and another well known uk tree surgeon had a 3’ dbh SP with big lumpy waist and unusual flare.
Presumed it was sap wood compensating for damaged/unhealthy heartwood.
Nope.
Bloody solid.
The grain must have been crazy inside as the cone splitter got stuck everytime.
Got dumped on a fire in the end.
The grey patch does look like healed damage in your photo.
