I have access to a woodland primarily

of pine which has al the appropriate permissions in place.

pine is all 8-15 inch diameter straight over stood first thinnings. Looking into the hundreds of tonnes potentially.

I’m looking at options as to how to

maximise return. Am I looking at primarily at chip wood/timber for firewood/kindling or are there any other suitable avenues to pursue

First question is what sort of pine?

You might get a few first lengths off as saw logs, ask your local mill first, if you have a lorry load you can look further afield

Kindling bars (5-9" and as few knots as possible) are worth more than chip if you are willing to grade out to a spec. That's essentially the same as palletwood too I believe which again is better than just biomass prices

A load was sold out of our local wood, no good for timber but I believe it went for shavings for horse bedding, somewhere up near Grantham. Apparently worth a bit more than biomass.

Interesting that shavings is worth that much. I think Ill be creating a bit of shavings with my new Log Home Log Moulder and Im looking to sell the shavings, I already have a Horsely Girl looking to buy but Im not sure what the going rate is

I posted a few months ago looking for ideas for Scots pine and the upshot was that's its good for something but I didn't get any further than that.
