Lever action high reach tree loppers

Does anyone still make long-reach, lever-action tree-branch loppers? By this I mean a 9" lever at the bottom connected to the 5ft-6ft distant cutter head by  a stout steel rod - much like a squeezable floor mop sponge! The great advantage of this type over the useless standard nylon cord type is that one can easily wiggle oneself free if the branch traps the cutter head. Not seen them for many years.

 

My 1960s example is, like me, getting old and decrepit!

Bacho p34-37 in my view the best I've used.
You can get an adapter to fit aus poles or use bachos own ... may take a bit of searching on the web and don't get the smaller version !!

I pulled one of those out of father-in-laws garage when we were clearing it. Had a quick go but I'll stick with my Bahco P34, I find they are strong enough to cut through branches so don't get stuck, and they are telescopic so I have a longer string when the pole is longer.

I  have the wolf garten string lopper one is ok.

 

 

Carbon fibre poles are fairly cheap dunno why there not used as light a strong...

Thanks lads, as ever. The ARS looks ideal as I much prefer a steel rod to string! (I have a Marvin on my pole-set but am scared of losing it when the string snags/snaps... been there!... besides, the Marvin's single pulley has poor mechanical advantage).

Settled on a Barnel B88T telescopic... so far so good... but my geriatric Spearwell does the job more easily, quicker and it's much lighter. Progress, eh?!

Fiskars upx86 is all you'd ever need.

Fiskars is good but fragile - I get through one a year on average. Got a few in the store that I will try and cannibalise to make a couple of good ones if I ever get time

Reckoned the ARS looked good  as the japanese companies seem to still make quality  tools as both the silkly saws and okasune stuff I have  are good.

 

& have heard the ARS secateurs are quality

 

Fiskars  new stuff seemed not that durable from the loppers I tried.

 

 

 

 

Have you a jap style tripod ladder they are really good esp one with 3 adjustable legs hedon do a copy of them.
