Having worked in an office for the last 10 odd years i can say it has no benefits at all. Office politics really annoy me, the vending machines and Snack wagons make me fatter each day. So when i was away in Afghan last year i lost over a 2 stone and was healthier and less stressed as i was working outside.

I've since come back to my current job and it still the same with petty arguments and no thanks for doing a good job. Yes the money is good, but that doesn't make for job satisfaction.

So the outdoor work is for me, i don't want to sit and see the beautiful countryside pass me by when i could be part of it. So a career change is for me.

As a student is something different you outside you climbing trees like you used to do as a kid not 1 day is the same you get to do things that you would never do in an office you get a buzz out of it climbing as high as you can till you look down then (brown pants) lol

Its fun its outside its something different from your 9till5 job

Today we felled 2 large sorbus, thinned out 4 more all on a small patch of grass outside some clients houses, then felled an alder at the rear of 1 of the properties, I knocked on the door after the work was done and the smile on the clients face said it all, absolute delight. All part of the rewards:001_smile: Did someone mention money?
