Small stove suggestion

Anyone got any suggestions for a smallish (3, max 4kW) stove that I could install in my lounge / office / man cave? I am either having to run the central heating throughout the house to stay warm, or run an oil-filled electric radiator.

As a chap who is careful with the pennies, neither of those appeal.

I know it’ll be a big job (and cost) to install a stove but if I don’t price it out and crack on, I might lose some fingertips come next winter if the current weather patterns are anything to go by!

The room is 5.1m by 3.1m by 2.3m, with 3 outside walls and a pitched roof with about 100mm of insulation; one of the o/s walls has patio doors fitted. I think that means I need about 3kW of output (max), which makes sense based on how warm the 3kW rad keeps the room if I give up worrying about the electric bill and leave it on at full chat for a bit.

Ideally I’d like something tallish so that it’s away from combustibles i.e. skirtings.

Fit trvs to your c/h so you can turn the rest of the house off?

I will be fitting TRVs around the house as we get the radiators and pipe work upgraded. Getting heat into one room would still involve the boiler running though. And me going around the house to turn the TRVs down in all the other rooms every day, then back up again later.

I reckon by the time I’d done that, I could have lit the stove anyway!

Burley make a 4kw one but I think that is a nominal figure . My nominal 5kw one pumps out more than that when on full chat .  The 4kw one looks like this only smaller .DSCF0017.jpg.eacec8d47b23c443634647bbae26d4b7.jpg
