Our lovely Monkey Puzzle tree was felled about a year ago (it had sadly died) and we now have a few c. 10ft lengths and some smaller pieces in our carport. If you would be interested in them please let me know - offers considered!  We live in Milton Keynes (MK11).

Any questions please ask!

To old now for anything other than firewood.Be full of sap now and a nightmare to do anything with.Even as firewood it would need to be burned with some coal or on a very hot fire as gives off a lot of tar

Does M/P not season then ? How can it make sap if its dead ?  I know very little about them other than the sap can burn some peoples skin , but like G/Hogweed .

Thanks all. I understood wood turners really like it because it has very interesting whorls. It needs a while to season so it’s ready for turning. It’s already had a year so hopefully well on it’s way!

What diameter?
Any photos?
Very large MP is saleable.

Not everyone's opinion. I have some lumps felled 9 months ago and was advised by a trusted turner to keep it under a lid but ventilated for a year.

A nationally well known turner who specialises in MP likes big pieces stood with the endgrain on damp carpet for a few months to initiate spalting

Thanks for your message.

We have two large pieces which are 240cm and 220cm long and c65cm diameter, and lots of smaller ones which are 100-110cm long and c 55cm diameter.

We also have one v large but thin slab which is 85cm diameter and about 20cm thick.

I’ve attached some photos. Any other questions, please ask!
