It was brought to our attention some time ago that another firm had started trading under the same name as us. Now we only selling logs locally so another firm 100 odd miles away was no problem as far as we were concerned. Then we start getting folk ringing up wanting logs from the other business. Again not a big issue as its not that often but a bit of a pain. I contacted the owner and they said they would add some geographic description to help stop this and it has more or less worked. Now for the first time we get a crappy review from a guy we have never supplied who has a bag of wet logs (not that we sell in bags either). Starting to get a bit pi$$ed off with this but our name is not trademarked so how might we amicably get this sorted? Thanks

If they're getting bad reviews they'll not want to change theirs as some of the bad reviews will go to you.

Quickest and most pain free option would be to change yours I reckon

Cant say we are keen. We have had our name for the best part of 10 years now and they just started a few years ago.

It was google that we got the bad review through. Probably could get friends and customers to right in with reviews if need be I guess. I did reply and suggest that they might have the wrong firm and the location of the one they might be seeking haha

Can you add a geographical location to your business name?

We have but it doesn't stop numpties. I have to say we get a far better quality of customer than they do from the chats I have with a few of them 😜
