Foreman was telling me about the first time he saw the boss take it on site. He didn't think it would even get up the ramp to load on trailer but went up no problem, said it was unstoppable. Horrible to drive though, hence bonerattler, but the boss was in tank regiment so I suppose used to it.

How far back? I drove a FV432 the other day and that seemed quite manageable. The owner of an estate I worked on, a non driver, was conscripted into a tank regiment  in 1940. He was the least mechanically minded person, a law graduate never called to the bar. He obviously had not understood how the matilda drove as on his first outing he went down a steep hill and wanted to turn left, so he declutched the left track, presumably didn't apply the brake and was more than surprised when  the left track sped up under gravity and the whole plot rolled over. He never said if anyone was killed but he ended up in the infantry at Tobruk and the rest of the war in various prison camps.

Made me laugh openspaceman, he rolled it over and ended up in the infantry!

The boss is a bit more recent, he's been in the tree business 30yr and started in his late 20's I'd guess. I'll say one thing for him, between his farm upbringing and time in military he can drive anything bloody effectively, and fix it all too.

Been working the last 3 days for a client recently moved here from London. He's been very good with tea, cakes and biscuits, all supplied in Pink Floyd merchandise mugs and plates.

Turns out he has been responsible for all the re-released, digitally remastered stuff along with box sets etc for nearly 20yrs. Had some very interesting stories to tell, and when I listed the Floyd stuff I've got over the years he laughed and said thanks, you've contributed to me paying for all this tree work...

I've got DSOTM on cassette, although no cassette player now, its been round the world. Tropics, deserts and oceans a plenty,  more airmiles than Troy Tempest. I should bin it. I don't have the heart. Too many memories in such a small package. I know.....sad😔

Don't bin it! It's so small you'll always have somewhere to keep it, and as you say it carries all those memories.

For me it's the Pulse double CD, early edition with the red blinking light on the box cover. Bought it in Guernsey, remember clearly the hire car I first listened to it in. Must be 30yrs of memories that CD and those songs bring back.

Edit... Even bought a car at one point, largely because it had a rear spoiler and was called Pulse (A Proton)
