Portland braid vs double esterlon

since i started this thread i bought the portland.....very happy with it so far. i may get some 16mm too at some point.

The portland seems ok, not as stiff as esterlon I would say, although it does flatten a lot running over the drum.

Has anyone used the Sirius rigging rope that Nod sells? Not trying to Jack the thread!

 

its good ! rigged out half tonn bits today from a vertical position so had one hell of a shock load expected somthing to give, we were in a wood land so and the only aim was to keep timber out of a moat! so i thought i would really push it! most other ropes i have used would of snapped including esterlon ....a bit glazed so will have to get some more and probably another whopie but just wanted to see what it would take,really took the p1ss on some bits that where not verticle but still nothing gives... i liked the double esterlon though but i think i will buy more of this...its the best i have used .....

we just brought 19mm portland . will give you an update when it has been used in anger

prefere the double esterlon

though not a lot in it

it,s stronger for 1

it just seems to run a bit nicer and does not seem to show wear as quick

and i reckon knots a little bit better

but is more money and reckon you get what you pay for
