Help with a Greenmech cs100. Last week at a job it wouldn't start, to the point the battery went flat, tinkering about I took air filter off and tried starting it again, brown liquid was coming out of the black pipe that enters the inside top of carb. When I put finger over end of pipe to stop liquid it fired up to the point of the pressure forcing finger off pipe then cutting out again. Turns out the petrol has somehow got into the oil sump (happened once before 6 months ago, spoke to greenmech who said change oil and would be fine, and I must have left fuel tap on!!!).

so, changed oil and all was fine, apart from a little smoke at first. Anyone know how fuel is getting into the oil? I've checked the fuel tap and now even started taking fuel pipe off when transporting. Just hope it's not a bigger issue.

Any advice is greatly appreciated

Something else worth noting is the rate at which fuel degrades too. Some EFI engines running modern software can manage but low tech engines do not like old fuel. If you intend to leave an engine on the shelf for a while, empty the tank and run the carb dry, or put an additive in the tank.

Top advice from Ash at GA Groundcare mind.
