Have you started Milling yet?

I am in the process of buying the kit. It seems chainsawbarsUK are out of stock on big bars until Febuary though 👎 Glad I didn't order things too quick mind or I would have bought an alaskan instead of a panther so I have got quite a lot out of this thread from the guys who know their stuff! Also learnt that the 881 has a diagnostics port for those wondering how they would know if you were milling with it.

Damn, is that right? Sneaky beggers! Supposedly they are advertised as suitable for milling but Ive not seen that on their official website. Stihl clearly know folk will be using them for Milling as Saul had/has one on hire for just that and Logosol sell Stihl Saws with their Milling packages, ie M8 and F2 etc.

To be fair it does say on their blogs about being suited to milling with the air filters, advertisements where it says it's designed for saw milling, videos (the one with roughs saw in too) that it's for milling and they even say on the product page that can be fitted to a saw frame. There's nothing anywhere about voiding warranty through milling. I doubt stihl will be advertising something for a job that voids it's warranty.

It surprised me that there was a diagnostics port considering it doesn't have m-tronic. I assume it just logs hours and RPMs to see if you run it too lean or something. They say it's for quick fault resolution but to me it just sounds like quick warranty denial 😂

I seen the wording 'saw frame' seemed as little too ambiguous to me.

Well, if its clearly not voiding the warranty I hope to get one in the next few months along with the Panther. Did a few years with my 088 and 48" Chilaskan and loved it, just not loving humping the boards around. But Im gonna get a mates Avant in and will mill at my own small yard more.

I think like that as well, it's a ride out and a distraction. I went to Sleaford and picked up an air rifle a couple of weeks back and it was the highlight of my year. 🤕 Sad innit ? I shot ratman's cousin yesterday which also brightened my year 😃

What did you get ??
getting rid of a couple of PCP,s shortly BSA R10 SE and BSA Ultra both in 22. R10 is factory condition less than a tin of pellets.

I'm curious too! I just finished a regulator install and tuning on my Air Arms S200 and it's a fantastic gun now. Get around 80 shots from a fill which is unbelievable

I’ve got a fac rated R10 and I love it. Half inch grouping at 40-45m no problem certainly has its place.

Well that’s what the other two are going for I’ve a slot on my ticket for an FAC rated air rifle and the R10 is the preferred choice 👍
