if you are lucky enough find a good local saw shop and saw doctor, use him for your new saws, chains, bars etc as well as repairs, I have built up a great relationship with my local saw shop..

 

I roll up at 4.30 with brocken saw , if it can be fixed I generally work out in around half an hour, with a running saw! I shop around when buying new saws, blowers etc, but I ALWAYS give my saw guy the chance to match, in some cases I accept he can't beat internet prices and I pay slightly over the top, that way we both win, I get the service he gets a loyal customer...

If you are in the Bedfordshire area, I can recommend Stuart Brown Arborist supplies, at Blackmore Farm, New Road, Maulden.

Stuart was in the industry before opening the shop, and has a wealth of knowledge.

I have taken saws in and he's repaired them while I wait, really excellent service by a great bunch of lads

Anybody have a good tip for keeping the 1 tonne bags open?

 

instead of 1 ton bags ..use old bedsheets!..means you can rake onto them also.

how many begginer climbers do you see climbing a tree with out even looking for the best anchor point.

 

I have had couple climbers climb half way up the tree and Just start pruning from there.

 

good anchor point = easier climb

don't fall out of trees and check your gear twice. Just the other day I used a collegue's prussik which slips easily, which of course it did. Left me dangling sideways 3 meters below where i had been plus a brand new rope burn across my hand. lucky I wasn't cutting

heres a simple one, probably nothing new, your leaf blower is like a portable air conditioning unit, so dont get hot and sweaty at work, just give each other blow jobs. haha

not really eco-friendly, but stick the chipper on full revs when, the hot exhaust gasses are fantastic at drying socks, boots, t-shirts ect
