I'm after some hornbeam planks/beams. If anyone has any hornnbeam or can point me in the right direction I'd be very grateful.

 

Based in South Wales (willing to travel when possible) and after planks at least two inch thick and as long/wide as possible.

Would beech or sycamore not be suitable?  They both have very fine tight grain.

Ah , yes . Its hard as fcuk . Is that the traditional material for letterpresses ?

Yeah it's either hornnbeam or beech or maple. You can also use sycamore but it's much softer.

Beech may be a lot easier to obtain.

What about ash? Pretty tough stuff.
Not horn beam hard though.
