Ebay Item - your thoughts please?

Hi All, nothing to do with trees, just after a bit of advice / opinions.....

 

I sold a netbook PC on ebay last week. It was new, but never used. I'd taken it out of the box to start it and check all was ok before i put it away. It was an unwanted present. I stated all this on ebay as i like to be upfront.

 

A guy bought it with Buy It Now and i delivered it to him (for free!!) locally and he paid cash on delivery, after he had started it and checked it out for himself.

 

This afternoon, a week after i delivered it, he text me to say that the screen wasn't working and did i know it had a short battery life? I replied saying that everything was all ok when i delivered as he checked for himself, and i had no idea about battery life as I'd never really used the thing! He now wants a refund! My initial reaction was No, but the reason for this post is what would you have done / do? Not sure if am being a bit harsh or if he is a chancer. I have been stung on ebay before selling stuff so I am wary of claims like this.

 

Any thoughs gratefully received!

it was working when he bought it was it not,has he used it with out an anti virus & got 1,!!!! is it under warranty ?

if he checked it when u delivered it and everything was ok, then f$$k him James.

 

he's probably dropped it or something.

 

if its a new product it should be warrentied ??

Same as, if you take it back YOU will have a second hand pc and worth half the price of a new one! He could of done anything with it in the space of a week..................So NO.

Simple answer No, tell him to shove it were the sun don't shine. He knew what he was getting it's not hard to get a spec on a computer, tell him to kiss your fury arse.

I sell and buy on ebay quite regular, so i would definately not give him a refund. He seen and tried it before paying for it, so he knew what he was buying. Tell him tough S***!

Thanks for the comments guys. Thats pretty much what i've done. Its only a cheap one which came via the internet from abroad so no returns or receipt option. It was a present so I'm not sure but i think it was from Hong Kong or China. I gave the full spec when i listed it so no arguments there.

 

Just annoys me when people try it on like this. The only other time i got bitten on ebay was selling a laptop motherboard which worked fine but i think the guy blew it up with static and paypal/ebay found in his favor! So i had no board and no money which is what I'm trying to avoid this time. My gut feeling is that he's bust it and wants out.

You sold it in good faith and he thought he could grab a bargain. He paid his money and made his choice.Regretfully decline his request for refund!
