What size sheets for back boards

Do any of you advertise on the side boards? If so what type stickers or painted?

Get signage made up on either foamex or a better bet is dibond (aluminium backing). Foamex can expand/contract a bit in the heat. Screw either to the ply.

I did once use vinyl graphics (single colour logo) direct onto painted plywood and it actually looked pretty good and stayed on for the life of the boards so that is an option.

Dibond in a light steel frame is another option for your sides, they will need a strengthening bar every m or so but 30x3mm flat bar isn’t heavy or expensive. The dibond will last years as long as you don’t launch timber at it like a nutter. Can also add vinyl signage to it, to look smart.
dibond and a steel frame will cost more than ply but if used with respect will last a lot longer. If the board gets bent the frame could be reused with new board and lettering.
Your sign company will be able to help with cost options, poss worth a conversation before spending out.

I guess if the vehicle body and the drop boards have vinyl signage then I could get away without doing the back boards, the vehicle body colour is Black.

Marine ply I’ve heard is the best board to buy and if it’s well painted on the outside with undercoat and then gloss and some kind of wood treatment for the inside and making sure to get the edges then this should do the trick.

2"x2" ffs it isn't rocket science? It's an arb body. I built one out of scrap 10mm ply and 2"x2" I milled myself from a shitty old Corsican Pine. All it cost was the screws.

ffs it isn’t rocket science??? Not to sure what your meaning.

I’m hopefully buying a transit tipper for my tree surgery business and I will be needing to sort the side boards and head board. Could you please let me your ideas on size of boards I will need to buy and some idea on how to make the back up. Pics would be great to give me some idea on how the back is made up.

thanks Paul

Job finished, thanks for your advice folks.
