Distel, I’ve been very pleased with mine the last few years, I’ve got the carbons. Have you checked out kiwi climbers? Not sure who stocks them over there in the uk? But definitely worth a look.

They might not be the latest and the greatest, but Bashlin's are a better spur than the regular Gecko's....The gaff profile and the angled strirrup on the Bashlin's are tough to beat...Plus they are one of the few interchangeable capable spurs that feels great with either short or long gaffs....

If your looking at the Gecko's I would take a look at the DMM version of the Aluminum Gecko's...It has the angled stirrup like the Bashlin's and is a kickass spur...

That’s arguable if your used to geckos , I used some bashlins the other day and it looked like I’d never worn spikes! You get used to what you use.

I spend 99.9% of my tree life in spurs, and as such I am very picky about my spurs.  Subtle differences in gaff profile, stirrup angle, and shank shape can make a big difference in performance, and IMHO companies like Bashlin, Buckingham, and DMM are making a better spur than Gecko.....

I broke my titanium Buckinghams.

The flucker just snapped.

17 years old so can't complain

Might try the aluminium baseline that were all the rage in the 90s

Gotta depend on your legs too though, I have the Steins that the OP hates and spent most of Monday in them perfectly comfortable. I'm 6 foot 7 or so and so far it does seem they suit longer leg.
