Compatibility of a Husqvarna 262 and Husqvarna 262xp

Hi there,

Just a quick question,

Can the Husqvarna 262 and Husqvarna 262xp use the same bars?

The reason I ask is because I bought a bar that says it fits a Husqvarna 262 but I tried it on my Husqvarna 262xp and doesn't fit properly.

Thank you.

Matt

I was under the impression that the 262 was an XP machine in the range 242XP, 254XP, 262XP, 256XP, 271XP etc

Generally if it has a vertically split crankcase, adjustable oiler and closed transfer ports, it is a pro saw and these were all pro saws.

Most of Husqvarna 65-70cc machines use their larger mount size - I reckon you have the wrong bar, how does it not fit?

I think the 262XP is the small mount and you may have the large mount bar?

I was looking at the Sugihara bar catalogue and the large mount for the 372 went through a listing of load of old school saws and the 262 was not on it... those small mount 3/8’s are a bit harder to come by as I use them on 560’s and 357’s and from memory the 262’s I ran over 20 years ago so it’s a bit hazy where on small mount too.

All 262s were xp, they had the 254 crankcase with a longer stroke con rod, it did have the small bar pad, as standard they ran 3/8 chain unlike the 254 on .325

I wanted to say that ! ?
