Had a Wave for years . Got pinched out of my truck by kids . I left it unlocked .

Had the original wave (was a present from my now wife) and broke it - Leatherman replaced it without quibble with the new (current) version which isn’t as nice ‘in the hand’ imo but is arguably better/stronger. Great tools.

I've got a Gerber which I really like, but wouldn't mind a leatherman one day.

I’ve got a leather man kick had it years and as said before lives on my belt at work ! It’s also quite compact so doesn’t dig in to the hip. Buy a leather man you won’t regret it

I've used the gerber suspension cheap and cheerful, think it got for around £40. It's nothing special but it gets job done.

Cheap multi-tools and knives are seldom worth the effort of carrying cos when you need them they won't do what you need them to do, because of poor quality steels and/or design.
